Political tension across the Taiwan Straits has not deterred Taiwan business people from investing on the Chinese mainland.

This group made up more than one third of the total number of overseas visitors to the fourth China Fair for International Investment and Trade, held in Xiamen, Fujian Province of East China, from last Friday until Tuesday.

The fair, sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation (MOFTEC) and co-organized by Fujian provincial government and Xiamen municipal government, is the country's biggest staged to attract foreign investment.

About 8,500 overseas business people and 230 overseas groups visited the event over the five days, according to statistics from the organizing committee.
