China's textile industry's registered strong growth in the first half of this year.

Over that period, the sector's profits surged two hundred and twenty percent on a year-on-year basis.In the first half of the year, the industry's earned over ten billion yuan or about one point three billion U.S. dollars.

Industry experts expect profits to exceed twenty billion yuan over the whole year - compared to eight billion yuan in 1999.

More exports, expanding investment and rising domestic prices for textile products are pushing the industry's production and sales.

China exported twenty four billion U.S. dollars worth of textile products from January to June, up more than forty percent on a yearly basis.
