June 28 (Xinhua) -- Beijing's three subway lines were linked together today, a source with the Beijing Subway said.

The Chinese capital's current lines are the No.1 subway line, the loop line and the Fu-Ba line.

According to the source, the Fu-Ba line was linked with the No. 1 line at the Xidan station; the loop line and the No. 1 line both were connected with Fuxingmen station and Jianguomen station.

Beijing has 54 km of subways, transporting about 500 million passengers a year.

To further ease traffic congestion in Beijing, the No. 5 subway line running south-north will go under construction this year. And a 45-km light track rail will also open.
