May 24 (Xinhua) -- The Pittsburgh Plate Glass Corporation (PPG), a U.S. based plate glass and coating producer, will spend seven million U.S. dollars to upgrade its four white carbon black plants in China. A PPG source said the move is designed to meet the increasing demand for white carbon black in the Asia-Pacific region. The upgrade includes 1.3 million U.S. dollars to be used on a new production line in PPG's Nanchang plant, a major white carbon black producer in Nanchang, capital of east China's Jiangxi Province. The plan went into operation seven years ago and has since produced 120,000 tons of white carbon black. With annual sales of 7.8 billion U.S. dollars, PPG has invested a total of 60 million U.S. dollars in China in the past several years.
